Notes...
We are excited to present this beautifully restored 1928 Chevrolet Texaco Tanker Truck, a true piece of automotive history. This Capitol AA series truck has been meticulously converted for tanker operations and features a striking Texaco livery. Imagine the attention this fully restored example will draw parked in front of your business! This classic truck boasts a 171 CID OHV four-cylinder engine paired with a three-speed manual transmission and 3.82 gearing. It is equipped with a 95-gallon Brown-certified tank from Brown Sheet Iron and Steel (\#1720), a 124-inch wheelbase, and charming wood-spoke artillery wheels. You'll also appreciate details like the wood-rim steering wheel and external sun visor. The light green paint and trim are in excellent condition, complementing the straight and solid bodywork. The interior is near perfect. The engine bay is remarkably tidy. Notably, this truck does not have bumpers. A small wooden space is located between the cab and the 95-gallon tank, perfect for tools or other items. Additional features include a driver-side windshield wiper and dual taillights. The 95-gallon fuel tank carries the Brown certification from Brown Sheet Iron and Steel (Please note: Not for commercial use). This vehicle rides on Michelin tires, size 6.50-20, mounted on the wooden artillery wheels, all in very good condition. Braking is handled by two-wheel drum brakes in the rear. Under the hood, you'll find Chevrolet's dependable 171 CID OHV four-cylinder engine, a staple of the era. This engine, first introduced in 1913 with splash lubrication, is paired with a three-speed manual transmission and a 3.82:1 rear end. Inside, the black cloth bench seat is in excellent shape, and mats cover the floor. A stunning wooden headliner graces the cab, along with a four-spoke steering wheel featuring a wood rim. The body-colored metal instrument panel houses center-mounted gauges, and the wood inner door liners are in good condition. A floor-mounted shifter completes the interior. This 1928 Chevrolet Tanker Truck is a fantastic example from a time when manufacturers like Chevrolet were producing a diverse range of vehicles. It's a wonderful opportunity for collectors of vintage trucks and automotive enthusiasts alike. Currently located in Rhode Island with a clean and clear, mileage-exempt title.
